THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS

The board members are to provide stewardship, direction, assistance and accountability to SAE in accordance to its mission for the fulfilling of its vision. Composed of at least 50% members under the age of 30, the board aims to find a balance between representing the interest of young people and SAE main stakeholders, as well as ensuring a sustainable management for the organization. We are currently recruiting a STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP AND DEVELOPMENT GLOBAL BOARD OF GOVERNORS. The governors is first and foremost responsible for seeking out opportunities – through partnerships, grants, projects and other opportunities– that will support and expand SAE international work and fulfil the vision.

Join our board as a member. The board is responsible for overseeing the affair, budgets and financial administration of the organisation, reviewing procedures and financial reporting and making sure the SAE complies with all tax filing requirements. Every member is part of the board’s dynamic discussions on organizational growth and vision.

The school is managed by the Board of Governors that works alongside with the founder/president/chairman to meet the educational needs of the students and the school in a secure and safe environment.

The Board of Governors consists of members representing the owner/president or founder of the school

The Board of Governors is to make sure that the school provides pupils with a good education and career accomplishment.

The Board of Governors sets the plans and policies of the school, employs the school staff and manages the spending of the school budget. Each governor heads a department or office appointed to him or her.

A governor is appointed for 5 years term of office. The Board of Governors meets as often as its business requires with the time table. The Board of Governors is made up of members with different skills, knowledge and experience. The business of the school is progressed by the whole Board of Governors working together in the best interests of the school and the students.

Every governor is expected to contribute to the conduct of school business, every governor is expected to hold the policy guiding the board and every governor is expected to learn something new. Training is provided.

The role is demanding but very rewarding and is a good way to give back to communities. School governing bodies are responsible for working with the school to ensure that it delivers a good quality education. Together with the head teacher and management team who are responsible for day-to-day management, they set the school's aims and policies.

To ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction

To hold the head teacher and management team to account for the educational

Performance of the school and its students, and the performance management of staff

To oversee the financial performance of the school and make sure its money is well spent

To partner with the vision financially for the fulfilling of the vision

They also carry out a number of other important duties, which include:

Determining how the school's budget is spent

The appointing and dismissing of staff

Hearing appeals and grievances

Forming policy on the school's curriculum and collective worship

Setting standards for students behaviour and discipline

Making sure school buildings are welcoming and safe

Setting and monitoring the school's aims and policies

What's really important is that you have the skills, time and commitment to help drive school improvement and the passion and ambition to achieve the best possible education for the students and fulfil the vision of the school.

Effective governance will include these core features:

Commitment to ongoing development projects and get to know the school well, including effective induction.

Commitment to playing an active part whilst working as part of a team.

Ability to deal with robust challenge and hold school leaders to account whilst listening to and respecting the views of others.

Focus on a strategic role rather than involvement in operational matters

Induction for new school governors

Once we are alerted that a new governor has indicated interest, a welcome pack is sent out. This pack includes information about your role and responsibilities and benefits. advice on training and how to keep up to date, plus a list of useful contacts. We offer an induction course.

New governors are expected to attend a one day induction course. This is essential to helping you understand the vision and your role so you can begin to make a positive difference to your governing body.
